I'm looking it at it all as something OTHER than a speedball tournament or a scenario. It just sounds like everyone wants the professionalism of a league, but the gimmicks of the woods.

No doubt that everyone involved has good intentions and knows what they are doing. My stance has been stated over and over (and over) and I think allowing flamers or anything else that isn't manufactured (Specifically) BY companies isn't needed.

If people want to have a paintball science fair let them create their own event. Maybe Popular Mechanics could sponsor a team with all the stuff that is being created for use in this league.

I guess I just see a more grounded reality than some on this one. You and I have gone round and round with no one posting anything. I'm going to just let the polls speak for themselves and shake my head in disgust.

p.s. we really could take this on the road.  ;D

But why do they have to make another league? thats why this league was created.  "To bring real life profesionalisim and tournament style play to scenario paintball, with prizes so as to not make woodsballers conform to speedball to cash in on noteworthy awards."
So we should make a league to seperate from the league that was created for just such a thing? come om now, thats just retarded.  Thats like the NPPL players creating a league where you have 7 man teams compete in 5 minute games spraying paint in massive quantaties while using air filled bunkers as cover.
As far as taking this on the road, I'm telling you, i'm drafting a letter to Action Persuit Games and requesting a monthly topic to debate from both sides of the field.

EXACTLY! They don't need another league.....they have the SPPL to play in! (I have no idea if you can have a flamer, but I think you can have tanks)

Let me know how the letter goes....50/50 all the way down the middle.

you can have flamers in SPPL... however with only 8 games a year, and no where near here, and prizes no where near competative, why should i travel to oklahoma to compete 10 on 10 for nothing?  It costs more to play then it does to win, unlike this league which is set to give out some prime prizes... thus setting it apart. remember, its focus was to give prizes out that are equally as valuable as speedball tourney prizes, no one else does that. thats why we're all here.

sure thing, 50/50 split for a 50/50 comentary!

Personally if someone wishes to bring a flamer then thats their own business as long as its approved by the field owners. If you think about there are advantages and disadvantages to having a flamer. Yes you do have the potential to whipe out an entire squad, but if there are a clouster of the people so closely to together as to get caught by surprise by a flamer then you deserve to be out. I think that there should be a limit to the amount of paint that a flamer can carry, as many people has stated and in my opinion once its gone they have to wait until the completion of the match before they can reload and when they do the amount of paint is decreased again.

The down side to having a flamer is all the extra weight, no person is going to beable to move fast enough or silent enough to really make full use of the flamer. Then there is always the fact that if you are hit in the gun or tank that thats an automatic kill because in reality you would have exploded. Plus I would add a blast radius so as to catch any team mates that may be in the area. Depending on how close they are to the flamer they could be just serverally wounded, or killed in the blast as well.

Thats just my opinion about the subject....

You hit the Jack pot! Yes there will be a limit of paint allowed in the flamer and also a dead kill of 20 feet around the area if the tank is hit. All members with in 20 feet are dead!

Good ruling!  see, that makes a flamer a liability, and i for one don't think it would be worth risking my entire squad.  Solid ruling, makes it allowed, but with a heavy risk.... something to think about!

Now can I take this as an offical ruling? If so then great!

Now consider this as it stands since I am the one to start this thread. I would be the perons on my team to tote this thing around. Having this being said IF my commander wanted me to tote this on the field I would have to say that I am now more scared of being a liability to my self and my team. Plus consider that I would only WANT to bring this on the field where there was in fact a tank or an objective where the flamer would be able to over take the objective in question.

As far as limit to paint I would like to throw the max of 2 liters of paint per game. No refills when set to respawn. Even have it that the player can respawn but the Flame thrower weapon cannot.
