Rubber Knife rule:

I see this could end up being one of those things where fights could break out. The knifed person shooting the knifer and saying to the ref. "No man, he came no where near me before I shot him."

I could see the barrel tap being the same as a knife. However, this is where peoples honesty is the big factor. Hopefully there will be good ref coverage for this to keep the honest people honest.

Now if there is a way of having a painters sponge style paint brush and use it as a knife with paint on it, then that would be good. Just a little messy.  P.S. this is a joke.

As for refs on this format. We will have 1 ref per two players. In some areas there will be even 1 ref per player. We plan on making good calls and not missing a beat. We want to do this right and with enough reffs, it can be done.

As a Speedball tourny ref let me tell you, people WILL try and cheet when there is a prize involved.  One ref per 2 players is fine in the confines of a speedball field where everyone is packed in tight and from any refs vantage point you can see more then 1/2 of the field and no one is hiding.  With the format you have going on here though people will spread out more and have more places to hide.  Bird doging will also be an issue as stelth will be a huge factor for some teams.  If the refs are following them everywhere it will be a dead giveaway.  There are issues with that sometimes even in the NPPL.  Basicaly you are looking at way more refs then you probably think will be nessasary to do this right with the way your fields are setup. Probably on the order of 10 on the field at any time.  More if you start putting up cat walks as you will need refs stationed up there.  How pissed is your sniper going to be when he manges to sneek up to the catwalk without being spotted, hides behind somthing watching the door, then hears from the other team "I just saw a ref go up to the catwalk watch out for the sniper".
see the problem.

as to the Specialist roles though.  Can we please get hard and fast defintions of each role with abbilites and restrictions for each?

Thanks.

Good point on the refs. We are looking on having the refs maybe out of the way, but in places where they can see and judge the players with out giving away positions. They will not have the same catwalks as players and snipers.

problem is you have to be able to run in and check a player.  sometimes you will think you saw somthing when you are on the side line but you have to be able to run in and check or pull the player you are watching.  I've seen spray that I wasn't sure if it came from a bunker or from the ball hitting the player.  You have to be able to get right in there.  Also you should look into makeing sure your refs are qualified.  Bad or lazy refs can destroy an event, and good ones can make it an excelent experience for everyone.  If you find yourself in need of refs by the way drop me a PM I may be able to help you out

thats why you try to keep goofy rules like flamers and tanks to a minimum if at all so to help eliminate the questionable things that might happen

Okay as far as refs go . . good refs will start in the area where most of the conflict takes place observing. Really good one will walk way a head of either side or even back away from a player so as not to give that player away keeping the player in view but not straight staring at him/her.

If possible you can have a pannel of judges who can review the footage of certain cameras. This is if the camera is recorded to a central storage and not soley on the camera itself. The side line refs can have binoculars that allows good zoom to observe a certain player that can get a good view of paint breaks vs spray.

Plus just like all the NFL games I watch I feel that refs made great call AND bad call. This will even happen in the TTPL and you just have to acept the call go to the dead box and cuse under your own breath and most importantly pray more bad calls are made on your opponents then on your team.

since this works on a points system, their should eventually be a reviewing system for call that are made, just like their are in the NFL.  I don't think it shpould stop play, but it should take place during the 15 minute breaks, and if the call was bad, a certain percentage of the points lost because of the call should be awarded back.... I'm not sure on what the percentage would be, I'd say it would very depending on the situation of the call.

My judge crew will most likely have head-cams on. Why? Because where ever they are making the calls will be recorded and then held for review later. If not the same day, then the next day depending on the amount of calls made. Would that help the matter better?
