NIGHT TIME PLAY
« on: Nov 12, 2006, 08:11:53 PM »
Some have asked me about night time play. I thought I would ask you the players how you would feel about this. I know my team is in 150% for night time action  ;D We have a perfect record for night time General Kills... ;D It's a lot of fun and does change the attitude of play and tactic's a team needs to use. Please feedback is welcomed.

I vote yes.  I agree with Herc... night-time play adds another element to the game. It is sometimes horrifying but definitely fun lol. My team currently has no types of nightvision so we rely on tactical assaults in order to achieve success during night time play.  My team has run with Herc and the Undertakers at night, and I can tell you it is an incredible experience... so much fun.  I think all should have an open mind about night time play... give it a try.

i absolutely agree with night time play. Any team can work together during the day. But I believe it's at night when a team will be able to display how good they really are as far as teamwork and effectiveness go. This would definately add another element to the game and would make this league that much more exciting.

I love night play just as much as the next guy, but it has to be really controlled. I know most of the teams entering this tourney are honest players, but with all that gear sometimes we dont realize we've been hit till a ref tells us. So the night games makes those calls just as difficult.  I really dont think it would work well in open woods. Maybe in a controlled environment like the swat house or urban setting. I can tell you right now that this league will be more intense than any scenario game. Teams will be really competitive and sometimes emotions get the better of people. You dont want finger pointing on suspect calls at night. So i feel lets keep it controlled for night play. Just my 2 cents.

Night play is exciting. Since this isn't a scenario, but a competition, the playing field should be level. Lights only, no NGV devices, as their cost is prohibitive to most teams. Glow in the dark paintballs would be awesome.

the whole basis for this league is tactical so heck yeah lets see some night action. Low light might be more beneficial for safety... and by all means NVG should be allowed. Yes NVG can be expensive, but we dont necessarily need the latest and greatest. Gear is an investment and just like most hobbies can get pricey...

NV isnt in my gearbox yet... but that doesnt mean i dont people to use theirs... last scenario i participated in the nvg peoples didnt notice me anyway until after they tagged my wife.. then it was a case of oops there is another one.. my wife and i were only 15' apart and were happed upon by a group of 6 NV spec'd people. the funny thing was we were on the same side to boot.

our crew has been saving for 6 months and just a few more months til we start picking up some NVG... woot!!!

Night Ops are a must!

Glow In The Dark Paint Has Its Good/Bad Sides. Espcially consider during lrrp or forward /entry manuvers. For Tanks or Defended Positions its pretty cool.... We have a Old Van ( Blackhawk or Gunship) that drives around our night games just lighitng up anyone just to keep things intersting. The sight of a string of tracers coming at you highly motivates you to move quickly but gives up the shooter position instantly. For this reason practically no rifleman loads glow in the dark at our night games.

Night games bring a whole new game play to the same field. Night Vision is great and has its advantages but at our last 24 Hour Scenario our point man ( Silent Warrior) took out 3 Men with Gen 3 with a Rubber Training Knife and no NV! Nobody know what hit them their entire team was in awe that such a manuver could be performed.

Of course persons need to be aware of the CQ distances and also the honor that must be used for such a game. We (ORTAC) try to play one large game a month with a night game the evening before. By far the night game brings excitment, adrenline & suspense that a day game can't.

Props: Coast Guard Approved Parachute Signal Flares (red lights and shadows play tricks on the eyes at night), Fourth of July Mortar Fireworks single/multi stage... Roman Candles... Fire crackers..Million Candle Power Lights. Tanks/Helicopters (simulated night insertions and gunship manuvers) . Road Side Safey Flares, 3 - 5 minute Coast Guard Approved Signal Smoke Canisters ( no spark/flame)

Fight like you train - Train like you fight!
Usually our night ops go from sun down to 2 am - 3 am...

Night time play would be bloody great.  I've only been in one scenario game thus far and I must say, playing at night was totally different than playing during the day.  Playing in the dark makes everything different.  You have to rely on your hearing more, make less noise, move slower and trust your eyes less.  It's a great idea to put in night play.
