Australian peel
« on: Apr 02, 2008, 08:53:59 AM »
Ever hear of this tactic, its one my brother told me about after returning from iraq. basically you have two colums of troops and if fired upon from the front they crouch down and the first two wast their first clip and move to the back after tapping the next soldier on the sholder where he starts fireing. This goes on until they are out pof the enemies range or he has been killed. Can this be adapted for paintball you think? Throw me some thoughts or sketch up some ideas.

Ya know I have heard of the tactic.  It wouldn't be too hard with paintball; however it would have to be a "Modified" Australian Peel because of two issues especially if use this tactic in the TacTen.  First is the fact that it is a far better tactic in MOUT enviroments and situation.  For simpler words better in city and urban enviroment.  Not to say it couldn't work anywhere else.  Also unless the whole team are just using magazines of ammo, firing 50 or 200 rounds on one bunker or opponent would raise a question mark.  Perhaps instead of utilizing a full load or the remaining load on one target perhaps a hand full of ammo or several seconds worth of pulling the trigger.  I am sure there are many other point of views, but that is how I would most likely use the tactic.

Exactly my idea, 5 consecutive seconds of cover fire and then pull back to the next man. I might try it with the team one time at a capture the hill match but there lies the second problem of angle/trajectory.(Paintballs fly different than bullets) and more affects the trajectory of a paintball than a bullet.

"If" I have time before basic.  "Maybe" your team and my group can try that tactic out.  We are trying to make a team that specializes in tactic usage like MOUT, and other stuff.  If your team wants to practice or cross-train amongst groups.  A place I thought would be good for MOUT training such as the "Australian Peel" is in Mansfield.  There is a paintball field that has a small village with woods amongst it.  Unless there is another field between your location and Columbus.  What do you think?

Seen this tactic used with single column as well - first saw that in the movie Tears of the Son (or Sun) and thought that was way cool. My previous team and I used to practice and use that one in games when possible. It works.
Now living in NZ I have to reform a new team - which will take some time, but I bet we will end up using thistactic again
