Look at the NPPL rule book, they state no ramping modes permitted on any ones gun.  Now a board with ramping will only cost you about $150 but it's still not permitted.  Why? because it's an unfair advantage to those how didn't or couldn't buy them.

Actually they don't allow ramping because of its function, Not because its unfair.  Ramping allows a gun to attain full auto status without control without changing the settings, even if capped.  Ramping givs an unfair advantage of full auto at 25bps in a semi-auto league with a cap of 15bps.  this lead to litigation and teams complaining that they couldnt control what the company programmed into the board.  It is not allowed because its FULL AUTO, not because its expensive.

Personaly I like to run light, just paint, mask, gun, and air.  Nothing else, Now i need a way to take IR emiters and Strobes with me to cancel otu the NVG gear the other team of guys who make more money them me brought?

so if your a swat team, and you yourself choose to run light, but the bankrobbers inside are using smoke, NVG's and Laser detection, would you not want to be equiped for it?  All I'm saying is there are ways around your opponent using nvg's even if you dont want to carry them...
Besides, for every team that complains that they lost due to nvg's, there will most likely be 2 teams celebrating because they took out a squad that had nvg's while they didn't!

What has that got to do with how solid my team tactics are? or even my personal skills?

now lets examine the fact that squads are from 3 to 10.  I'm planning on running a tight 5 man group.  Does that mean we should cry foul if we face off againsr a 10man squad? No.  It's all personal preference.  your choice.  if you want to run with les people how is that any more of an offset the someone with NVG's? Skills and knowledge alone should get the job done with or without nvg's.
You are by no mean obligated to bring nightvision, or strobes that'll cost less then a meal at mcdonalds, but as for me, i plan of preparing for the worst case imaginable, just like the boys do in real life.  thats what its all about right? plasing one tactical unit againt the other to test there TACTICS.... next your be saying i cant use the new RAP4 landmines because i have 10 and no one else can afford that.... I say you are just psyching yourself out.  If you know you will do great, and your game is on point for you, then bring it, and let the world know.

In my opinion, Sparrow 69 makes some good points.  I got excited about Tac Ten because of its potential for hardcore milsim competition.  When does fairness and even odds ever come into a tactical situation?  In fact, hardcore tactics is all about overcoming any odds and putting any situation into your favor.  This also includes going up against a team that has all the gadgets and toys imaginable.

As far as team captains getting together to discuss what is acceptable or not is crazy.  Since when does any military or law enforcement unit get to decide before an engagement what their opponents can or cannot bring.  It is a matter of just being prepared for anything, and if caught with your pants down, how you adapt and overcome those obstacles.

However, if my vote counted for anything, I would be willing to concede and compromise for the first year’s games and have NVEs stay out of the picture.  Then implement a 2 or 3-level tier/class (rookie, novice, and pro) as Drizit suggests.

The hardcore milsim nature of this league is what sets it apart from all the rest and makes it unique.  This implies that it won’t be for everyone…so you cannot please everyone.  If it were up to me, I would make it hardcore and challenging as possible.

Very well said guys! We plan to make it "HARDCORE" as can be. And maybe the different levels is a good idea. First we need to kick-off season 1 and get the feedback from the players and teams. But I love the idea of all this. We need to be different then anything out there and with all your help, we WILL BE!
