Flatline or Apex?
« on: Jun 09, 2008, 09:25:01 PM »
I need some answers here from those who either have or used both these items, the Flatline barrel and the Apex barrel. What are the pros and cons of each, what can one do that the other can't, and which do you prefer?

Hmm, I've been hearing that from both sides. Some say the apex is better and some say the flatline is better. I was doing some research and the thing I don't like about the apex is that if you have one ball break you're pretty much screwed. My boy has the flatline for his 98 platinum and I don't see a huge difference, only a longer shot. Now if the apex barrel really does what it says then it should out perform the flatline by curve shooting and dive bombing paint. I don't know yet, I need some more thoughts on them both before I make my official decision.

yea thats what i have heard about balls breaking in the apex. and your right . but i have also heard thatw hen you use an apex you have to be rediculasly fast because its the tip of the barall that spins to adjust to curve the shot. so when your being shot at its kinda hard to twist and get the right shot.
but thats just what i heard.
personaly i dont own either. so.. lol

lol, yeah man thats why I'm debating on them both. Like the apex looks like it can out perform the flatline but has too many defects. Like you really have to know the apex barrel front to back and every little turn on the barrel so you won't be wasting paint just to find out the best shot for your situation. I don't know man it's find of a hard decision because both seem good, but also have major cons.

I own both for my X7 and love them both the flat line is better for CQB action and speed ball however i have saved my teams asses before with the 16 apex witch does seem to shoot farther than the flatline the secret is in the paintballs!!

both barals will out perform just about every other baral iv ever used however they are very paint picky!!

make sure you get paint with a textured shell thats a lil thicker than standard

the PMI Polar Ice works well

my advice would be get both :)

here are some pics

check my sig as well

Hope this was helpfull

Wow man you're hardcore. Which I had money like that to buy em' all. Whats your pick between them? that 16 is a monster, does the barrel length on the apex make a difference? Also it's hard to use other paint esp when you go onto fields that have field only paint. Gets me mad man, that I can't even use my own paint I buy. How do they react with field paint? I'm trying to look on all sides. I have my X-7 with a folding stock and like to keep my marker short and powerful, but if the longer barrel makes a different then so be it, I''ll get it. Thanks for any type of info you give.

I have an A-5 with an Apex on it.  I absolutly agree that paint is the biggest factor in that barrel.  I have never broke a ball with Skirmish paint or Marbelizer.  I just bought RPS stingers this weekend and they were awefull in that barrel.  I switched to the Cocker with a freak barrel and no broken paint........I really like using the apex, used it all day at ION last year, not one problem.  I dont think can go wrong with either barrel.  its going to boil down to which one looks better on your marker.

Sweet thanks for the extremely helpful info. I think the apex will most definitely look better on my marker, just wanted some people who've used the apex to give me some pointers or just advice with the apex before I decide which barrel to buy.

Thanks again if you have any other tips or info feel free to post.
