Oh yeah!!!  :D   I like it, don't know now between the hammerhead barrel or the apex. I need accuracy.

haven't used either, but you can get an apex to fit almost anything... even my sp1. as far as paint concerned, paint quality will always make a difference and it doesn't matter what you shoot it out of. i do believe that on the apex you can actually vary the amount of spin via a slider so by turning it all the way off you shouldn't problems breaking paint when you're shooting rec paint... just my 2 cents

I got the apex and gotta say that its way better than the flatline. you can do so much more plus take it off on the fly when you get a break.

Ok, here's an update. After sometime playing with the Apex I put it away. As much as I like curving the ball, I like actually hitting someone more. The Apex is good for the fact you can dive bomb or whatever you want to do with it, but the odds of actually hitting someone is pretty low. I rather stick to the old fashion face to face shooting. I will be posting a full review here http://lazaruspaintball.com/

I have owned and obviously used both, many times with different paints... Below are my opinions of pros and cons.

Flatline:

Pros:
-Looks
-Increased Distance

Cons:
-Barrel has a rough powder coating, that works to give the ball traction to actually spin.  It works great, but will eventually wear down, decreasing the effectiveness of the Barrel.
-Decreased accuracy for short range shots
-Fixed amount of backspin (where the apex allows you to set desired amount, or turn off completley)
-Loud
-Not compatible with freak system
-Picky on paint

APEX:
Pros:
-Price
-Adjustable amount of backspin (can even turn off completely)
-ability to curve, sink and float shots (although curving is VERY hard to do)
-Able to handle more paints
-Can be fitted to almost any barrel system with the Electrical tape mod.

Cons:
-If paint does break (which is not that often) it is a pain to clean.
-Looks
-Soft rubber paddle that creates the backspin, wears with time and will eventually need to be replaced

Also keep in mind, although both barrels increase distance, unless you are using a very high grade paint, chances are the shots will not break even if you hit your target... usually the paintballs are going so slow they will just bounce.

i gotta admit i really like the apex on my sp1. i don't use it for trick shots, but i do find it extremely useful at putting a ball through a hole is dense bush. and if you seen where we play you'd totally get where i'm coming from.
