Drop me a line and let me know about that magazine thing.  I was serious about the Siskel and Ebert Debate on issues in paintball.  We could really make isomething out of it.  We'll have to hook up... what team are you with?

Like I said, i think we could work it.  Perhaps we shoulld look at that from a serious angle.  Our first article could be about the TTPL.  The big issue right now is the whole scenario vs. speedball.... this is somewhere in between.

I think Hitman should give us a column on this space and give us a topic every week.....it could be like pardon the Interruption on ESPN.

FYI the poll is a little skewed.....the difference is by 6 votes, but shows a bigger percentage lead.....also no margin of error.

ummm no its not, theres 20 votes.
That means that each vote has a 5% carrier rate
so 10 votes would be 50%
Right now, there are 13 votes for yes (13 x 5 = 65%)
and 7 votes for no (7 x 5 =35%)

How is it scewed and lacking a margin of error?

It is called inflated numbers...c'mon Sparrow! You can't assign a value of 5% (or any value) because you are only counting the sample of people who know about this poll and are logged in. Accurately you can really just say that ___% readers here want _______ that isn't voting to predict the likelihood of anything in April.

but that rule only applies when you restrict the polling to those you wish to poll.  Everyone on this board can click on unread posts, and see the poll.  They can then place a vote.  It's not a particular polling like republicans versus democrats.
A poll, that correctly portrays an option to vote to all parties involved is correct in its averages.  So just becaus eonly 20 people CHOSE to vote, only states that the rest don't care one way or the other, therefore they must be counted as votes for both sides, which again levels the playing feld to 65% vs 35%.

Uh, no...voting apathy is not an acceptable measure of accurate voting. Tsk tsk...didn't you learn anything in '04 Presidential election?

"Everyone on this board can click on unread posts, and see the poll" again, implying that only the readers on this board and those that have access to computers are the ones it effects?

Man! We should have our own show! Anyone else want to chime in?

since you have to log on to register, and contact hitman to sign up, ummm... yeah, thats not apathetic voting.  if you want to play the game, you HAVE TO log in, thers no walk up registration for this thing.  Games in november, registrations close april 1st.  If they don't log on, then they aren't playing.  and if someone is being kind and registering the people that don't have computers, then those friends shold be the ones who let them know of the poll and get their views so they can vote for them.
I know one person with no computer who is on our squad, and yet he logs on over at my house to voice his opinions... if he can find a way so can all of those supposedly concerened people who won't be playing in the league... why should we care what they think? its not like they will be playing so I'm sure they don't care.

C'mon sparrow, you aren't going to use the "every person that matters has voted" excuse are you? This league should end up bigger than the group that is currently online. I'm logging in from Illinois (13 hour drive away) and advocating for a format that affects the long term of the league.

This league isn't exactly on the lips of every player (yet)  so how accurate can it be if only a fraction know about it?

thats why leagues have rules erratas as they grow.  you cant expect to cover every single rule right here and now do you? as of right now there are a little over 4000 members on this forum.  thats 4000 people who have the chance to vote.  if they don't want to thats on them. did you vote? I know I did.  worry about your own vote, and let everyone decide for themselves.  if to many people complain about it this year, i guarantee it wont be in next year.  you've stated your disapproval, you only get to vote once, so vote and drop it or get others to join you, either way, this doesn't HAVE to be a voting process.  Be thankful that the powers that be want to hear peoples opinions.
My advice, since your trying to get TTPL to be where you are in 2008, set up a Tac Ten Field where the things you disapprove of (like Flamers and tanks) are not a solid tactical advantage, and guess what, no one will use them.  Thats the joy of a beginning league.  As they grow, you can help mold it.  i know the field We are designing for play here in delaware, Tanks are third party objectives that fit in to the scheme of things for points, and flamers are useless so they wont be in play.   Can you still bring one if you wanted? sure if the ruling stands.... will it do you any good? not in the least.

You asked the questions...I provide the unpopular answer also known as the cold hard truth.

"thats why leagues have rules erratas as they grow.  you cant expect to cover every single rule right here and now do you? as of right now there are a little over 4000 members on this forum.  thats 4000 people who have the chance to vote.  if they don't want to thats on them. did you vote? Can't argue with that logic...4000 people on this forum and how many people voted? 20? Sounds like a sample to me...NOT! (that means you need to vote you slackers). I would think the powers that be would want to hear as many opinions as possible to make the league a success (would be nice if OTHER people besides us had opinions). I would also think they want it as uniform as possible in the other 49 states since they will own the trademark and concept. Why put in things that contradict what you are trying to build in the first place? I could see snipers by Non-players in a city block street scenario MAYBE even tanks in the same format, but a tank (or a Dodge chevy painted with mounted gun) brought by a team competing? Sorry, not buying it. Hopefully someone reads this thread and forms their own opinion so they can vote. THAT is why I keep posting, since my vote is already in.
